I AM BLACK I AM MELANIN

Beneath my first surface Beats African drums Slums full with hot combs and afro picks Triabalistic rituals and incense sticks

I am the sand beneath the feet of a lioness roaming the Serengeti in search of substance for her seeds I am the descendant of strange fruit that hung from Southern trees

They call me evil because of my skin Handcuffed my hands and feet Taught to hate my sisters and brothers And feel inferior to others I have walked through pain and torture for padlock's my lips 💋they puncture I have seen slavery and hell Times when my identity fell I never shook I never broke My awakening fed fear as they choke

I am one of gods creatures my blackness answers to no one I am the day before god created the earth before night and day were separated My skin is a reminder of everything beautiful this earth will ever know

The skin I'm in doesn't mean that I am covered in sin or corrupt from within, born into a life of violence and rage That because of my skin tone I am an animal uncaged

My blacked skinned beauty is the mother of all beauty The skin I'm in was past down my fathers an inheritance that has only brought pain The skin I'm in is tattered from worry its glow has been darkened by endless rain

I am like a burning log 💥 My history being written on a blog I refuse to be labelled abnormal Nor will I consider myself an animal I am the moon that shines on a cool dark night The diamond 💎that glows in the morning light

I am heiress to the throne I am a goddess so you know You cannot destroy my flesh and soul I am a thousand galaxies untold

I am greatness I am queen 👑 I am black I am melanin
